Simplicity of Film Festivals?

I just want to know, if film festivals are what they seem.

All you have to do is shoot a video (within the festival's rules), and submit it online or by mail, and your in the festival? Just like that? And just have to wait for the results? Please correct me on that.

Nope. They have to accept or reject your film. Other than that, yup. Make a film, and barrage the festivals.

All kinds of reasons for rejection of a film:

Film is crap (many filmmakers have hard time accepting this)

Film wrong type for festival (submitting love-story to fests known for horror-screenings)

Film didn't include requested extra materials (artwork, flyers, biographies, whetever)

Programming director doesn't like you (for whatever reason)

Festival received way too many good submissions - and sometimes even the good ones won't make it in. (Limited time)

I received three rejections in the past few days, by the way. :cool:
