Recommendation for 75 year old editor

So I need to buy a birthday present for tomorrow. This is for someone who has relatively recently taken up editing.

They're using some cheap package on a Windows machine and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for something really simple for them. As I edit professionally, I have no idea of what goes on at the really cheap end...

One movie per decade that won best editing. DVD or download.
