So I do a lot of docu-verite or "reality TV" style shooting as a one-man crew. I've found it extremely hard to cover conversations between people with a single camera. So I started training myself to shoot holding two cams at once. While I've used everything from DSLR's to camcorders shooting this way, my current favorite is the Sony RX100 for its size and relatively stellar image quality.
I think a lot of indie filmmakers and producer/editors (preditors) out there could benefit from this technique when tasked with capturing strong verite moments while shooting solo. To that end, I'm doing a blog series on my gear and techniques for one-man dual-cam shooting. Here's the first entry:
