Hello, filmmakers! I'm a late bloomer recently gotten ahead in business enough to start financing some film projects and a sci-fi TV series I wrote. I am interested in learning from and contributing to the film community in the US Pacific Northwest (Washington and Oregon), specifically Seattle and Eugene. I know nothing about filmmaking - although, I have plenty of crossover skills (I was a carpenter for 25 years, I think I could probably build a movie set) and I'd like to grow into it with some lower budget projects. I am interested in learning at least a little bit about all aspects of production as time permits. I will be attending weekend and online classes as much as possible, but always open to recommendations from those in the NW film community.
Can't wait to get started. Got a cheap camera my Indie filmmaker buddies raved about (Canon HV30), lights and microphone and have been practicing with Adobe Premier. Any other basic tools I should have in my toolbox, please let me know!
