How to correct .MOD file format video aspect ratio 4:3 to 16:9 widescreen for Linux
Some standard definition camcorders from JVC, Panasonic and Canon save their video files in .MOD file format.
There are two common problems with this, sometimes video editing or video playing software will not recognise the file. The .MOD format actually contains an .MPEG video.
The second problem is that the aspect ratio information is not detected. So you are recording your video in widescreen - 16:9 but when you transfer it to your computer the video software displays it as 4:3.
There is an application called 'modder' which corrects these two issues.
