Innovative Semi-Professional Composer

My name is John Pearson, and I am a composer from Liverpool, UK.

I am graduating this summer with First Class Honours in my BA(hons) in Music, where I have specialised in Electro-acoustic Composition and Classical Piano Performance.

I have plenty of experience working on music for Indie and low budget short films, and have found my own style working with a combination of live instruments and sound manipulation.

On every project I collaborate with my partner Yashashwi Sharma (also a music graduate), who is an singer experienced in an impressive range of vocal styles, from Hindustani Classical Music to Jazz and Western Contemporary Music. We have worked together for three years as 'Patterns in the Ivy', performing in the Liverpool Experimental Music Scene and recently releasing our debut album.

Our aim is to move away from the more well-travelled paths of composition, choosing to work with real instruments, organic textures and handcrafted sounds rather than recognisable and insipid synthesised playback.

Here are some examples of our work:

Raindrops- Song featuring Yash's voice, recorded in India with the sound of birds and the monsoon rain.
Tanu's Waltz- Melancholy piece for Clarinet, Violin, Cello and Piano, performed by the Liverpool Philharmonic Quartet
Interlude Two- Soundtrack piece with piano, violin and Yash's Voice, building in emotional intensity.
Atmospheric 1- Immersive and reverent soundscape featuring guitar, percussion and my voice.

We are looking for projects of any genre or budget. You can contact me directly at john.patternsintheivy(at)gmail.com if you would like to express interest or have a talk. Fees are negotiable, as we realise films come in many shapes and forms, and that these are currently hard times for the independent artist.
