FILMMAKERS: What films would you like to make in your career?

While we're on the list game . . .

As a filmmaker, list the films you'd like to make over the course of your career. You don't have to be story specific, just genre will do. Also, don't make it a dream list. Keep it to films that you could realistically see yourself making.

For me it would be the following, in no particular order:

1 A low-budget indie comedy (already have the script)
2 A Pirate adventure movie without any supernatural elements.
3 A campy low-budget slasher/horror film (or two).
4 A truly scary horror/ghost film.
5 A WWII Epic (shot Bloody Omaha style).
6 A Spaghetti-style Western
7 A serious period Crime/Gangster film.
8 My own adaptation of Dracula, keeping as close to the original Stoker novel as possible (Which has never been none to my satisfaction. The BBC production from 1977 comes closest)
9 An adult-oriented (as in not aimed at children, not X rated) crime drama made entirely with a cast of realistic hand puppets.
10 An animated film-noir.

Those sound good. I would like to do these:

1. An HP Lovecraft adaptation
2. A period horror movie
3. A mob movie
4. A movie on a serial killer
5. An adaptation of a superhero that's not known
6. A slasher that is different to other slashers

That's it for now. I can't really think of anymore. As for the gangster movie, who would you make it on?

Other than the scripts I've got planned.

1. A movie with no script.
2. A movie shot in 24 hours.
3. A long ass movie. Like really long. Days.
4. Alternate historical ending film wrapped into an Antichrist related film.
5. Surrealish movie where a certain group of animals are in the same level as Humans.
A bunch more.

As for the gangster movie, who would you make it on?

Probably no real historical mobster in particular. It would most likely be a work of pure fiction along the lines of Miller's Crossing, Road To Perdition, Last Man Standing, etc. I love the idea of adapting a classic Samurai or Western tale into a prohibition-era gangster film like they did with Last Man Standing, which was based on Fistful Of Dollars, which in turn was based on Yojimbo, or The Magnificent Seven based on The Seven Samurai.
I can also see taking one of these same tales and adapting it into a 60's style Biker-Exploitation filck.

2. A London gangster film which will mix old school cockneys with new street boys

I like that idea a lot. I've thought of doing something similar that pits a Southern redneck racket such as the infamous "State Line Mob" aginst genuine Italian Mobsters from Chicago who are trying to muscle in on their action.

1. A movie with no script.
2. A movie shot in 24 hours.

That's really thinking outside the box. How about a 2-hour film that is one continuous shot? I think this was actually done a few years ago by a crew out of Nashville, I remember seeing a story on it, but I have yet to find a copy of the film. I don't even recall the title at this point.

I've got a few:

1) Post-apocalyptic vampire story (I'd like to do either a series of films or a webseries for this) — no sparkles
2) A low-budget drama set in my local area (wouldn't mind doing more than one of these)
3) Dark fantasy (possibly even like a long-form music video)
4) Tons of music videos
5) A wedding film (mostly for the set design and wardrobe opportunities)
6) A road trip film
7) A supernatural thriller, preferably set in the south
8) Something with an A-list actor, even if it's just a cameo

1. WWII alternate reality
2. found footage (just for giggles)
3. zombies vs hobos
4. Porn

but I'd love to make one specific film and that's a live action version of the 80's cartoon 'Mysterious Cities of Gold'. It would have to be a Lord of the Rings style epic

I believe that those who are currently in Hollywood, doing what you and I currently dream about, were once foolish enough to truly believe that they could realistically do what they dreamed of doing.

So, if you want my list, it's gonna include Star Wars, Star Trek, Indy, and Bond. That's not to say that I don't have a ton of original ideas I want to do, but yeah, I strongly desire to do those franchises, and I see nothing wrong with publicly stating that.

However, in the spirit of your question, I'll gladly list some films that I think I can make on an ultra-low budget, in no particular order:

Christian Film
Time-Travel Thriller
Supernatural Road Trip
Social/Political Documentary
Pre-Historic Coming-of-Age Comedy

:)

I've got a whole heap of low-budget horror films I want to do, ranging from a couple of slashers, to a werewolf movie, to a sci-fi horror, to a...

In the spirit of CF's post above, I also have a couple of dream jobs. I'd love to do Platinum Dunes' "Friday the 13th:Part 2", so I could make up fpr the disappointment that so many fans felt with the original remake. I'd also love to do the "Gears of War" film, using practical effects (like 'Jurassic Park' (imagine a life-size anamatronic Brumak!!!)) and utilising real actors, instead of wrestlers, as the early rumors had suggested.

Oh, and perhaps a Batman movie, with Black Mask as the villain.
