DV to 35mm transfer labs

We are a small Swedish/Latvian production company that has just finished the final cut of a 97 minute feature on DV. We need to transfer it to 35mm from 25fps with stereo sound. One of the better quotes we have been given is $ 22 000 for the job (with a zero positive print) by an engineer named Bob Durrenberger in San Diego. Compared to some of the rates we have been quoted, it might actually pay off for us to fly to San Diego from Latvia and then haul back the finished product as baggage. The total cost of the whole enterprise would be around $ 25 000 including air fare, car rental and lodging (assuming we were not in San Diego for more than 4-5 days).
Has anyone had any experience with this gentleman? Is his rate competitive? We have only done one DV transfer before, a feature done on a mixture of DV and 35mm that was transfered by a company in Austria with the whole process supervised by our director of photography who went to Vienna (a far shorter flight).
We are interested in any labs near a major US airport with a good industry reputation.

You might want to give Marcus van Bavel a try at DVFilm.com --His price might be just a little higher but you get everything. They do outstanding work. Bill Plympton used them to transfer his Oscar nominated short after checking everyone out beforehand. They are located in Austin, Texas so the airport should be no problem. Send him an email... He normally answers within 24 hours or less.
