Jedi Academy sued by Disney.

Lucasfilm filed a lawsuit last week against New York Jedi and Lightsaber Academy, which teach classes on how to engage in Jedi battles, alleging that the businesses’ use of the words “Jedi” and “lightsaber” along with a logo of the Jedi Order are in violation of intellectual property laws.

The difference between this lawsuit and the one against Axanar is that Disney apparently sent multiple cease-and-desist letters. Paramount and CBS didn't do that with the Star Trek fans at Axanar.

There's a class of racing in the British Racing & Sports Car Club (BRSCC) called "Formula Jedi", that was sued a few years ago by (I think ) Disney. In a rare case of "you're kidding me", the British courts tossed it, saying that it was unlikely anyone would confuse a Jedi Knight for a single seat open wheel race car. I heard that the deep reason for the legal action was to make sure Formula Jedi didn't decide to use images and slogans (one young woman had "Let the downforce be with you" on her rear wing).
