I'm a actor I've been living in Los Angeles for about five years now. After five years and hundreds of auditions I felt the only auditions my agent was sending me on was either the thug, or the football and basketball player. So I decided to take a screen play class at UCLA so I could learn how to write movies that I would want to be in. My question is what obsitcals will I have to face if directors and producers love my screen plays but want to use other actors besides myself for the main characters? The only reason why I started writing so I could star in quality films. What approach should I take?

By the way you ask the question, I suspect you already know the
answer.
It’s very, very difficult to sell a screenplay. It’s considerably
more difficult to sell a screenplay with an unknown actor already
attached.
However, if directors and producers love your screenplay they will
do whatever it takes to get the movie made. Even if that means
you star in it.
You already know that the odds are against you and the road to
seeing the script with you as the lead is going to be a difficult
one.
But you aren’t doing this because you think it’s possible - you’re
doing it because it’s your passion.
Right?
So the approach you take is to have a script that is so excellent
and high concept and marketable that no matter who is the lead
it will draw an audience. And then you keep submitting it and keep
getting rejected and submit again until you get the greenlight.
It's been done before, it will be done again. Why not you?
