What is the best way to find extras? And do you need to pay them a fortune?

- Craigslist is a horrible way to look for extras.

-Going through facebook also is a horrible way unless you have a lot of friends.

I've posted several craigslist ads looking for extras and the most I've ever had was 6 extras wanting the part. And that was after posting like 6 craigs list ads looking for extras.

Let's say, you need 30 extras for a shoot, maybe even 100... What is the best possible way to get extras and what price do you need to pay them to make them want to be in your film?

It'll depend on where you are and alternative opportunities there are for those said extras.
