YouTube is screwing YouTube creators

I know it's nothing new for YouTube to not be working in favour of their creators but some changes to their content ID algorithm recently and for next year have made matters much worse

It seems even owners of their own music or content are getting copyright notifications of their actual music.

YouTube is screwing YouTube creators

That's quite an exciteable headline.

YouTube improves automated system for dealing with copyright issues; a few hiccups along the way might be another way of looking at it.

As YouTube becomes more and more like a major television network in and of itself (if it hasn't already) it will have to continually update any copyright ID matching software and make it much more advanced every time they update.

The days of anyone being able to get away (and many have for a long time and still do) with uploading videos that have copyrighted content, and who had their videos slapped with an advertisement at the beginning are coming to an end.

If you want to upload a video with copyrighted content do so with the knowledge that it will get flagged sooner or later.

I think that it's just a hiccup as Zensteve points out. Those who own all their content will have this issue sorted out.

The solution would just be to go to Vimeo, or somewhere else. It's not like YouTube is the only player out there. It's just that they're the major player out there, but if they keep screwing people over, they'll lose their position fast. Just consider how Facebook's popularity has dropped since 2011.

I personally think YouTube will fix this by having the content creators (or owners) have to implement these bots on their own, or by whitelisting their websites or something along those lines.

The thing is, if YouTube continues this line, I'm pretty sure content creators will go to different solutions like twitch.tv, Vimeo, Soundcloud, etc. :)

People will stick with YouTube as long as 'content' 'creators' (in inverted commas ;)) stick with YouTube, and they will do so as long as YouTube keeps the most effective (or at least, perhaps, highest return for highest number of creators) monetisation of video content.

The reality is YouTube in and of itself would be a major company. As it is, it is owned and run by an even bigger company, that answers to many, and I guess has decided it needs to protect itself from the copyright debacle.
If it causes a few casualties is content providers, then so be it - there are plenty more, and just as many viewers.

Whilst YouTube hurting it's own content creators must be annoying for those content creators, a lot of them get paid, and (in some cases) make a sizable amount of money, simply for uploading their content, no matter how stupid or banal (or awesome) it might be.

You can't really hold too much against a company that pays you to play games and make stupid commentary over the top of it, can you?

YouTube id's stockmusic as well nowadays.
I just need to fill in a short form at the site where I by the music to get it white labelled, so there will be no ads (unless I want to put it there).
Usually it takes less then 24 hours to do so.
