Easiest mistakes to make

This question is nice and simple

During the entire filmmaking process, what do you think are the easiest mistakes to make on your first film?

Simple question, simple answers?

Give yourself more time than you think you will need, our shoot is currently 3 months over schedule and I'm not going to make a couple of festival deadlines. Unless you are working with all professionals, assume that life will get in the way. If you are working with all professionals, assume that life will get in the way. Nature is diametrically opposed to movie making! Don't let it win!

These have all been decent points... but it seems that one very important thing has been overlooked...

PLEASE, for the love of god.. audition your actors, don't just hand out the parts to friends. Yes, it's a bit more work, but you'll thank yourself in the end. Besides.. if you're friend is the great actor they and/or you think they are, it'll show when you audition them. :D

Oh, and video tape the auditions.. there's usually a drastic difference between the impression you get watching them live and reviewing the tape a day or two later (it's best to wait at least a day before watching the tape.. so you're not still stuck on first impressions as much)
