Anybody have experience with vacuum forming for sci-fi props? Helmets, etc. I am wondering if there are patterns you can buy and maybe modify so you don't have to reinvent the wheel? Also, if acrylic plastic will distort and look wonky on film for a helmet visor? Or if it needs to be glass?

I've asked a similar question before, and I am also interested in space suits. But what do you mean by "vacuum forming"?
Vacuum forming is the process they use to make the Star Wars uniforms, weapons, ect. It's very simple and you can make your own vacuum forming table or buy one. You can pretty much vacuum form anything.

Can't recommend anyone close to you but I *do* recommend using vac-form for stuff that otherwise would be hard to do - used these guys in the UK a lot on my film for interiors - just be prepared to do a *lot* of painting
