Should I hire a PR person for my short film?

We're currently in final stages of post-production (sound design, foley, music). Our total budget is 60,000.00, we shot on RED ONE with a talented cast and experienced crew. We have amazing Supertechno Crane shots, Dolly shots and Steadicam shots. We shot military firefight (Afghanistan) scene on Green Screen at Nut Roaster Studios in Bushwick Brooklyn New York. Our CGI and sound design is being done by Adam Clark at Trick Digital. We rented weapons at Weapons Specialist Ltd. USMC Marpat Digital Desert and Dress Blues uniforms were all authentic. This was a SAG shoot with insurance and permits. Needless to say, we had it all! Great script too! After all this, should I still hire a PR person for film festival run???????? Do I really need one??????

PR is good, it costs a lot of money for a good one.

Do remember that a good product walks on its own. I wish I could link you to Ruairi Robinson's "BLINKYtm" short film, but he spent little money on it and the short got nearly one million original views on vimeo.com, and was only passed around by word of mouth and through film blogs.

It has since been taken down, and I don't think you can find it on the net, but I'd wager it got so much attention that someone decided to pick it up.

If it's good, submit it to festivals and it'll do the walking for the most part, the rest you can do through different channels on your own.

Hey Kholi, thanks, I totally agree! I believe that a good product walks on it's own! One million views in a month!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!! I'll check it out!!!!!!
