Want to be an Editor or Director

Hey everyone Im from California and i like to make and edit videos on my spare time. I like to make many different stories with the same footage and relying solely on editing. I am very happy with the software Sony Vegas 9 to edit my videos. I'm not very savy though, but I would like to get better so if anyone wants to share any editing techniques or just tips on how to capture things with a camcorder, I'm all ears.

Welcome!

Unfortunately I'm staggeringly ignorant on editing, but this is a pretty good place to be if you're looking for insight into that sort of thing.

Watch the documentary:

The Cutting Edge (not the skating movie).

It's really good.

This is part one (in SD)...you can either find the other two (not hard) and continue, or you can stream it on Netflix in HD, or you can buy it.

Welcome Grasshopper!

I'm one of the audio guys here.

Keep in mind that the search function is your friend. Everyone here is always very glad to help you out, but a lot of the "basics" questions have been asked and answered many times.

And always remember:

"Sound is half of the experience"

"Old man, how is it that you hear these things?"

"Young man, how is it that you do not?"
