The Writers Block International Writing Competition, a 501c(3) non-profit organization has officially opened its Call for Entries and will accept submissions from around the world of short and feature length scripts and manuscripts of all genres including documentary, horror, sci-fi, Wiccan, fiction and nonfiction, Religious/Spiritual, animation, and Gay/Lesbian for the 2010 competition.

The main focus of this writing competition is to possibly give new writers the break they deserve while showcasing the talents of veteran writers.

but you might want to make the top prize for $4,999.99

I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but $5,000 is a key earnings number for screenwriters.
It makes one ineligible for the Nichols Fellowship, for instance.

That's just one example, I think I've read where there are other issues that
come up with a writer who has earned more than $5,000

I know a competition is in it for themselves and can do what they want,
but I think my suggestion might make sense.

It's possible the restrictions are for MORE than $5,000...in which case never mind me.
