investors

We have a great script, storyboards, crew, locations, props, but we need MONEY!!!!!!!!!!! (don't we all, lol).

We are looking for an investor, or investors who wan't to invest in serious film that could quite possibly be one of the best films from the UK in a long time, no joke. The site is up, will bee updated within (hopefully) a month, but for those who have not seen it or may be interested check it out www.themillionsouls.com

Thx guys for help or advice anyone can give!

I can't offer funding, but here are some questions that may help you --

1) What format is it being shot on?
2) What is the budget?
3) What's the intended market and what is your distribution plan?
4) What ROI are you offering?
5) What funding do you have in place already?
6) What names are involved in the project?
7) Is there anyone involved in the project who has sucessfully taken a film to market and produced a profit for investors
8) What existing feature credits does your primary team have -- ie writer/director/producer

These are basic questions that any investor is going to want answers to, because if you're looking for investment then you are running a business -- and these are business questions.

The other things I'd want to know is:

1) Have you applied for funding from the normal UK film funders? (ie. Lottery/Local Arts Council)
2) Has your script been though your local Film Funder's development programme? (In other words has it been script edited by a professional and rewritten from the professional's notes)
if not
3) Who in your team has sufficient experience to script edit the project and what has the development process been?

You're right, in that everyone is looking for funding -- but where everyone falls down is not understanding the nature or requirements of the business.

If you really want to understand how this works, stop watching drama and start watching BBC Two's "The Dragons' Den," where every week people pitch their businesses in the hope of gaining investment -- the reason I say this is that the mistakes that most film makers make in pitching for investment are duplicated every single week by inventors. It's the most useful thing you'll ever do.
