Any opinions on the New York Film and Video festival?

Thanks for pointing me into the right directions.
A fellow director of mine has contributed to the festival - his movie "Schreibblockade (Writer's Block)" will be shown at the NYIIFV 09. I did the color grading, sound mastering and the PAL to NTSC conversion for him.
Well, I hope it won't turn out that bad as I found in those opinions I googled.

I'm sorry to hear when any fellow filmmaker is duped by NYFVF.
Nothing bad will happen, but very few attend the "festival" because
they accecpt any movie any filmmaker pays to show. That means
most of the movies shown are really bad.

But they keep thriving because movie makers keep paying them
to show their movies so it can't bee all bad.

I remember contacting them a while ago about submitting my film. I was excited at first. Until I found out I had to cough up several hundred dollars to get my film shown. I'm like really. For the amount of money you're charging I could enter my film into a bunch of other festivals. If you have that kind of money, then it's up to you. But if you're a college student like me, I don't think it's worth it. I could be wrong. I just don't have that kind of cash to spend on one festival.
