Anyone ever work with Central Casting?

Central casting is for Union Extras, and unless you have a huge budget, you probably can't justify 100 extras @ $100/day. Even SAG only requires the first 30 extras be union and the rest be non-union. You probably mean "Cenex" for non-union extras, who work for $50/day, plus the Cenex fee. That's still in excess of $5,000 per day, plus meals and Cenex fee.

Are you sure about Central? I know lots of people who do non-union extra work for them.

But thanks for the Cenex reference. Yes, we have the budget for the extras, but whether or not we can pay the fee depends on what the fee is. Do you know what Cenex rates are?

CEntral casting, located in Burbank, CA, is the union casting agency for SAG, and Cenex, just for non-union extras, is in the same building, and actually they are right across a lobby from each other on the second floor. I did my 18 months as a Cenex Extra until I got my three SAG vouchers and then joined the union. I did not sign with Central, 'cause my "Background actor" days were over. I also used a casting service named Cameo Casting. They are also in L.A. and have the best extras in the business.

Cameo casting website looks like they are calling Central as one unit, (ext. 1 or ext. 2 on the phone call below) so maybe Cenex merged. It's been 10 years since I did extra work.

They are all casting call-in services that can supplly you with background actors. I do not know what they charge for their fees. I'd call CAmeo first, but they were the best fo rme, so I'm biased.

And you will need botha 2ndAD and probably a 2nd2ndAD to handle 100 extras. Too bad I'm not in LA anymore. I'd love to help you on the set. Using that many extras is a HUGE scene, but it can make a film look so real!!!!!
