Can you use it to learn to tell stories visually? Yes! The more you use it and learn, the more you'll learn what you want from a camera and can start looking into an upgrade path. You'll know when it no longer is sufficient. Right now, just focus on the art form: the juxtaposition of images to tell a story. Have fun!
