Importing Sony Z1 DV-tapes to Final Cut Pro on Mac; which camcorder

I'm a complete newbie. I want to create a video diary of my weight loss. I bought a used Sony Z1 on eBay. I don't want to playback the tapes on my Z1, to capture the video on Final Cut Pro, as it will be too much wear-and-tear on my Z1. So I want to buy a used camcorder as a player. Can I buy a used DV camcorder, or does it have to be hdv (as I will be shooting hdv quality on my Z1, so want to retain that video quality. The decks are silly money, hence why I'm going down the cheaper used camcorder route to act as a player only. I hope my message makes sense; this is not my profession, so I haven't a clue.
