Hello there!

I just wanted to share a teaser for my newest project "T R A C E" - a shortfilm set in the viking age. It`s part of my final master`s degree assignment for the university in Trondheim, Norway.

It a very interesting demonstration of fighting with a viking shield that looks very different than the movies show us.
 
Velociraptor: The arrow effect was done rather easily. First, our bad guy shoots a real arrow in the close up. On the second shot of the hit/impact, the arrow is already attached to the bottom of the shield. The actor rotates the shields upwards to cover himself, but the arrow is already there. The speed, acting and sound effects at work! :)

Thanks Walter! Interesting video. The shield seems almost more important than the sword in that video. Some nice moves there that we could use in the movie :)

I think I saw a 'rotating shield' in your teaser, so I immediately thought about this video, since it really makes no sense to use a rotating shield in a way a shield with armstraps would be used.

And it could make some spectacular scenes :P

Thanks for the feedback! Good to hear that you like it. It's rather minimalistic though, shot almost without a budget - bigger scenes with more extras are on their way.
