Baghdad Texas: Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack by Booka and The Flaming Geckos charted in the Top Twenty on American Roots charts for three months after its release in the last quarter of 2009, and has since won a Top Five Album of the Year from The Philadelphia City Paper and a Top Ten Album of the Year from The Boston Herald.
It features Cindy Cashdollar (Asleep at the Wheel, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison), John X. Reed (Doug Sahm, Jimmy Dale Gilmore) and Glenn Fukunaga (Joe Ely, The Dixie Chicks) as The Flaming Geckos, as well as Ray Benson (Asleep at the Wheel), Ralph White (Bad Livers) and Zhenya Rock (Red Elvises), and was composed by Booka Michel.
John Shelton Ivany of Top 21 said of the album, "The songs are excellent and come across as very honest. It is so refreshing to hear music of such a varied landscape, all very emotive in the best kind of way."
