No Firewire connection on my computer

I recently bought a Lenovo K450e, as several online sources said it would be a good machine for basic video editing. Now, I've just discovered there is no firewire connection on this computer! (Is that od??) Just USB. With my old computer, I always used firewire when uploading video from my mini DV camera. Will USB work for this purpose?? Or am I out of luck?? Any opinions, comments, and personal experiences with this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

As long as it has the same expansion slot and Windows 7 or 8, the computer will accept it. There will undoubtedly be a CD that comes with it that has Windows drivers. But, Windows 7 and 8 have plug and play for FireWire. You should be fine.
