Mexican Producers?

I am not Mexican, but I do know a lot of excellent Spanish speaking
actors and here in Southern California there are a lot of desert looking
towns. What is your budget for this short?

The budget is currently 0. All I have is the script at the moment. Which could be shot for little to nothing, if done guerrilla style.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I guess I'm a little confused, Owen. Are you looking for a
prodCo to finance your short film? Are you looking for a
producer to put up the money?

I'm looking for a producer to produce the film, yes.

However, I'm not asking for money (a fundraiser would be nice). But all the expenses, as of right now, would come out of my own pocket (that is, if there needs to be any at all). I was hoping to get a lot of volunteer workers looking to build a portfolio.

And what's a prodCo? Or was that a typo?

You asked for "Serious inquiries only please." and I'm serious.
Many people who ask for a producer are asking for someone
to put up or find the money. I'm trying to understand if that's
what you're asking for. Or just someone to do the job of
producing.

I understand. But all movies cost money. Transportation to the
location, water to drink while in the desert-looking town, meals
for the cast and crew who are all volunteering their time. I am
curious who you are hoping will cover those expenses.

No. It's a shorter way to write production company.

Well, to be honest, I didn't know how serious you were, because you never asked to see the script and I never received an email from you. What if you read it and it was so terrible you wished you never wasted your time? But anyway, I apologize.

This... completely slipped my mind. I mean, I thought about transportation, but that's as far as I got. So yes, I would need a producer to find the money for that stuff as well as hiring the key roles. Also, I would try to chip in as well.

However, I still don't know what the budget would be as far as numbers go.

No. It's a shorter way to write production company.

Good to know.

I didn’t ask to see the script because I needed to know what your
expectations were. If you were looking for someone to either put
up the money for your movie or to find the money for your movie I
am not interested. No need to see the script. If you knew exactly
what your movie would cost and needed help with locations and
actors and crew then I would have asked to see the script.

Many of the little expenses slip peoples mind. Movies do not cost
“nothing” and “little” is subjective. To some people $1,000 is way
more than that can afford to spend, while to others $1,000 is a
reasonable expenditure for a movie.

As a potential producer I asked questions that seemed relevant to
me. Finding the money for that stuff isn’t easy. It takes a lot of
time and effort. Hiring key roles isn’t easy - especially when
there is no pay. It can be done, but it is very, very difficult.
Figuring out exactly how much a movie is going to cost is quite
difficult. The things that slipped your mind cannot slip the mind
of the producer.

I suspect you know that which is why you are looking for someone
to do that for you.

Anyway - good luck with finding the right producer. I know how
difficult it can be.

If you find the right producer to find you the money
let me know. I still know some excellent Spanish
speaking actors.
