Meaning of this quote

I was reading some of the famous quotes by filmmakers. I came across this quote,

"If my films make one more person miserable, I'll feel I have done my job." - Woody Allen

I don't quite understand what he means by "one more person miserable". Does he mean protagonist's suffering here?

Thanks.

He is talking about the audience; the people watching his movies.

Woody Allen is a comic. His comedy leans towards the morose and the
self-deprecating. Most of his quotes demonstrate that; self-deprecating,
morose humor.

I agree with you but again, I have to read some more and understand the context. Thanks!
