The AFM 2014.

This NYT article talks of a "subtle shift" in the film industry, as foreign players try to erode American dominance. The article also talks of how two Chinese movies have hit the top of the box office sales, even though Chinese-language films tend to cater only to China and the Chinese diaspora, just as Bollywood films cater to the sub-continent and the Indian diaspora.

But these two films have made only a small inroad, and America still predominates. LA will remain the place where deals are made, but, as to whether it will remain the place, well, only time will tell.

I'm thinking of going to Cannes and/or the Chinese film markets, to get a feel.
