Any experience with reddit?

I am curious.
In several videos on YouTube that went more or less viral reddit.com often shows in the stats with thousands or more views adding to the total.
Has any of you ever tried to use it to get more exposure?
Offcourse you are not allowed to only promote your own stuff, but did anyone ever try or benefit from this site?

At the moment I am testing the site with an easter video:

Might be an interesting testcase to see if and how a video can go viral or not through this site.

Think about using it for trailers :)

Yes I've tried it. I've only had one video ever get any response at all. The thread can be seen here http://www.reddit.com/r/Parkour/comments/19o2lv/cool_mirrors_edge_parkour_in_real_life_video/

It wasnt particularly successful, though looking at analytics I think I got at least 80 views from it (compared to about 10 with my other posts). Now remember my videos aren't exactly viral phenomenons to begin with.

Another thing to keep in mind is that reddit is a very judging community, if you don't live up to their expectation then you are gone.

Thick skin required. I been successful there, but like the previous poster said, if you hype too much and alienate too many people you'll get flushed faster than many people flush Rush.

Good luck.
