Canon dslr picture styles

Just wondering what picture styles do you guys use for your Canon DSLR?

I used to swear by Cinestyle but recently I've stopped using it. I'm all about having the most vivid colours in my footage (unless the video needs a different look) and no matter how hard I tried I've never been truely happy with the colours from Cinestyle despite of how I colour corrected. You can definitely get some nice colours with it don't get me wrong, but it still looks a bit flat for my liking sometimes. I'm also not crazy about what it does to the skin tones, but maybe it's just my poor colour correction skills.

I've recently bought the Cineplus picture profile bundle for my new 6d. It comes with 3 picture styles: Cinema, Cinebooster and Lightform.

Cinema is the most popular one it seems but I actually really dislike this one. It looks way too dark for my liking and the blacks always seemed crushed. Maybe I need to play with it more.

Lightform I haven't played with too much but it's like a slightly more colourful version of Cinestyle from what I can see.

Cinebooster is by far my favourite, I think the footage you can get from it looks beautiful with really nice colours and a very filmic quality to it.

Anyone else try any other good ones or used any of those ones?

dont forget also your settings play a big part in how your footage looks, most people have phillip blooms settings, for me they didnt work with cinestyle so i boosted some things up now the image is really good.

I use Flaat 10 picture style that you can pick up here: http://www.similaar.com/foto/flaat-picture-styles/

If you flip back and forth between Flaat 10 and Cinestyle you can see the difference.

While I think each style has its own uses, I find myself having better luck in post with Flaat.

I also use Cinema picture style when I don't want to fool around with grading later.

I'm also using Magic Lantern, I wouldn't leave the house without it.

Oh yeah I'm aware of the basic settings, sorry when I said my new camera I didn't mean it's my first one I just meant I've upgraded to a new camera.

I'm just curious what picture styles other people here use/have used and interested to hear their experiences as I've only just recently started venturing outside of Cinestyle.

Here's one thing I did a while ago with CINESTYLE on a 550d. I'm sure a better colorist would have been able to pull a much better image out of it than I did, I'm still really inexperienced with colour correction. https://vimeo.com/72306708

Here's a rough cut of something I shot recently with CINEBOOSTER on a 6d. Apologies in advance for the shakyness, it was a bit run and gun and I was shooting with a 100mm lens handheld with no rig, silly me. Probably some overexposed shots in there too I know.

I did some colour correction in premiere but most of the work was down to the cinebooster picture profile. I know it's not a good idea to bake in the colours in camera as it gives you less to mess around with in the edit, but when you're not too good at colour correction like me or it's a job where you don't have time to do a lot of grading I prefer to try and get it right in camera as much as I can to give me less things to do in the edit.

Anyone else messed around with any other picture styles or the once I've mentioned?

Looks interesting, some stuff still looks a little bit flat for my liking but also some really nice images. There's definitely a time where I'd prefer a flat picture style, but sometimes I'm just dying for the colours to pop out a bit more even if I lose a bit of latitude so be it.

Any chance some of you could put together a post with photo's or footage with camera used, settings used, and lens type etc. This would help newbies like myself form a far better base line understanding of what different camera's, settings and lenses achieve.

Also perhaps a before and after colour grade shot on each so that we can see not only the picture or footage that comes off the camera but also what it can be corrected to look like?
