Grad Student needs your help to finish new documentary!

Under the Mango Tree is a woman-directed film about a healthcare clinic's food program in northern Ghana. Please consider contributing to the film's Indiegogo campaign! Any extra funding goes directly to the clinic and the film will be used to support the clinic's work. Check it out here.

There are at least three unique angles in this story:

The Shekhinah Clinic meal delivery program feeds 150 mentally ill homeless each day with few resources. In Ghana, there are few services for those suffering from mental illness, which is widely believed to be caused by witchcraft. As a result of a full stomach, the mentally ill homeless cause less disturbance in public places. The program has changed the community's relationship with this marginalized group.

As a young boy growing up in northern Ghana, Dr. Abdulai lost both parents and all 10 siblings to poverty-related diseases. With fierce determination and the aid of a few helpful adults, he became a doctor. He quit his city job in public health to start this free clinic for everyone in his hometown, no questions asked.

Director and NYU grad student Katrina Moore met Dr. Abdulai during a graduate-level course on hunger and food security in Ghana. She became so inspired by the doctor and clinic staff that she changed the entire direction of her graduate school career, drawing on her experience as a writer, photographer, producer, and storyteller to bring this story to the screen.

There are only 12 days left in our campaign and we need to reach our goal of $10,000. If our message resonates with you, check it out here and donate today!
