So I just bought a F3 without the upgrade. Does anyone know if you need to have camera upgraded to record to the Nano Flash 4 2 2. From everything I read all you have to do is change the settings in the Nano Flash for higher quality. Please let me know thanks.

You shouldn't have to upgrade anything unless you have an older nanoflash. If that is the case you just need to plug the nanoflash directly into a computer and update it via the compact flash card. It takes 2 seconds 
I use an EX3 with the Nanoflash and they worked perfectly together. You have to make sure that the 3:2 Pulldown Removal is not activated. It's the biggest problem users run into. You can change the settings from within the nanoflash to make sure everything will work smoothly
