Need help for shooting in LAS VEGAS

Hi Folks,

where in the middle of the Pre-Production of our second Film and are planing to shoot all
the stuff in LAS VEGAS. We have some support in the US but we would need one or Two
People with a little experience about the support on a Set.

Hire Cars, booking Hotels, getting Shooting Permits.. and so on.

I hope i could make my self clear :) ... and yes i know it sounds a little strange for a KRAUT to
shoot in the US.. but we WANT IT :) ...so in Short words: "we need SUPPORT to shoot in LAS VEGAS."

If you know someone or are this one .. give me a email.

Thanks in advance

Matt

It's not strange at all, Matt. Many people from all over the
world shoot here in the states.

I know an excellent UPM in Las Vegas. But she isn't cheap.
What is in your budget for this work?

Where Low Budget.. but i don´t know the end Budget because were still in the pre-production and
financing research.

But what is NOT CHEAP ? 1000 USD a Week or 500 USD a Day ? :weird:

We don´t want it for free, but who ever helps us must know that were Independent and
not a major studio

Matt

I think she might work for $1,000/wk fir a short period of time.
More likely her rate is $300/day. And really worth it in the savings
a producer will get with hotels, car hires, insurance, permits, etc.

When you have a final budget, financing and shoot dates let me
know and I'll pass on her info.

Thanks,

i called some people i know in the US and they gave me adresses of a University in Las Vegas and some Independet Productions there. So i called those too...still waiting for responce.

Also i read me through the US- Film Commission and whooooho thats a lot of Paperwork to fill out.

What i can tell until now is that were planing to shoot from the middle of June to the middle of July. And if i read the script
right, then in Reno, Las Vegas and in the Desert. All the Shoot outs, the Gunfights and the final battle will be done here in
Germany. It´s easyer to handle the Pyroeffects, Weapons and the build up Set´s here than in the US.
But we can´t copy the LOOK of Nevada.

I will get more informations at the end of this month so i will post theme here.

Thanks :)

Matt

Just so you know, June and July (and August) are the hottest months. Temperatures will be between 105 - 115 degrees fahrenheit, during the day. In the 90's, at night. However, the Valley of Fire (seen in STAR TREK: GENERATIONS) and Redrock Canyon are very scenic desert areas.

Reno is an 8 hour drive from Las Vegas. Reno is also forested and considerably cooler in temperature.

I live in Las Vegas and shot some projects, guerrilla style (no permits). My last movie, I tried to go through proper channels, but I was rejected for the insurance bond (and Workman's Compensation is also required for permits), so I could not get permits. (our budget was under $100,000.) However, Utah allowed us encroachment permits, so we shot there, about a 5 hour drive away. Rates at the hotel were very reasonable, around $40 per room, for 2 people. That was 2 years ago and since the economy sucks, now, you might be able to go just about where ever you want.

By the way - lots of volcanic terrain, in Utah:

Definitely call the Nevada Film Office, (702) 486-2711. Have them send you a Production Directory. You've probably seen their site:

http://www.nevadafilm.com/

Also, Dream Vision Studios has a soundstage and owns some land that can be shot on:

http://www.dreamvisionstudios.us/

I do know people who are bonded, so it could be a possibility that you hire them and shoot under the umbrella of their company.

It would help to know some things, like:

How many in your crew?

All from Germany? (actors/crew) How many from the U.S.?

Payrate, per day - actor/crew.

Union or non-union? (SAG?)

If you are interested, I host a yearly event, called The Las Vegas IndieMeet. (This May 22nd - 24th will be our 5th year) It is a gathering of U.S. and Canadian filmmakers, crew & talent. Meet up, watch some indie movies, do presentations. Last year's features were the German language, NIGHTCAST (by Marco von Moos), RECON 2022 (Christian Viel), VEGASLAND (Yuzzi Brothers) and THE RAPTURE (Johnny Wu).

Here's a video, from the 2006 meet:

http://www.midnightsunent.com/INDIEMEET.mov (give it about 20 seconds to load)

It's a good opportunity to meet people who can probably help.

Are you trying to get the "Vegas" look with casinos, or is it only desert you need? Also, 5 hours drive from Las Vegas is Sedona, Arizona. I have family there. My sister is the Director of Tourism for that city. Here is the view from my mom's front porch:

PM me, if any of this can help.

The Event in May would be great to visit..damn... i will think about it. The Problem is that
thats the same time the Filmmarket in Cannes takes place :hmm:

And were presenting our first movie there: www.break-themovie.com

Thats the movie we want to pay the bills for the movie we plan to shoot in Las vegas

Excellent. It seems like a University student would be better for your shoot.

Good luck!

It looks like you have similar terrain but Missouri is a very easy place to shoot as well.

We have woods, lakes, caves and plenty of other available types of terrain.

I have over 160 acres of available land that could be used without restriction. We filmed our mercenary scene therewith live explosions and gunfire.

This post is three and a half years old.

Matthias, never got back to me. I wonder if he got back to
Scoopicman? helidrvr, don't expect much of a response; Matt
announced his third project in March of this year so this one
was finished years ago.

It would have been interesting to know what happened to
this one. He only posts when he’s announcing a new project
but never talks about his work.
