I can always switch back (and may have to) but decided to go back to an old love of mine... Ubuntu. Currently running the latest 14.04 LTS. Was wondering if we had any other users (editors?) out there using this software and what video editing software may be recommended?

Naw man, current ubuntu releases are practically spyware. I also don't want there to be ads in my OS, free or not.
huh. hadn't heard of that before, but a bit of looking about: https://fixubuntu.com/ (looks like 14.10 is fine). It looks like the crap is confined to Unity (I always liked KDE better, but that's force of habit more than anything else).
Anyway, I know we have a few linux folks around. I have an old laptop with slackware on it, but I rarely use it for creative stuff, so the other folks might be a better source for software recommendations! I do music stuff, and occasionally play around with Rosegarden, but I prefer Sonar for most of my work
