Actors Needed for "Coup de Théâtre" -- A Comedic Heist Film (Portland)

Directors Sean Parker and Austin Hillebrecht are seeking actors for Coup de Théâtre, their third feature-length comedy. A wide variety of actors (of all experience levels) are needed to portray members of a fictional movie crew for a filmmaking-focused heist comedy.

The film follows Miles Smith, an ambitious but naive film student whose misfortunes in finding work in the film industry result in him being hired at a shockingly low-quality production company. Rather than sit idly by and help make awful films, Miles stages a daring takeover of the current production, working behind the director's back as he recruits disillusioned veterans of the company to help improve the film.

Several major parts, in addition to minor and non-speaking roles, will be available. Shooting will begin either in mid-December or early January, and will take place over a three-month period. Important characters include:

Miles Smith - male, 20 - 30. He's outgoing, intelligent, a real "go-getter," and serves as the leader of the rebel film crew.

Buster Owens - male, middle-aged or older (facial hair preferred). Buster is an experienced cinematographer who acts as a mentor figure to the protagonist. He's somewhat laid-back, has a calm and collected demeanor, and was an active pioneer in guerrilla filmmaking in the 70s. Although he appears a bit passive, there is still a spark of reckless creativity inside of him ready to ignite.

Caitlyn - female, 20 - 30. A movie buff who is a good friend of Miles, and was once in a relationship with. Caitlyn is good-natured, sarcastic, active, and a bit confused about her own motives in her friendship with Miles.

Adrian Dreyfus - male, mid twenties to about 50. A short-fused director whose villainous actions make him a hilarious antagonist. He is committed to the project and has blind faith in the terrible movie he's making. He's full of himself and ignorant to what makes a quality film.

Ren Fields - male, 18 - 30. A crazed, delusional editor, who constantly slaves away at his work. He's paranoid, a "tortured artist," finds the most profound meaning in the simplest of edits, and a big fan of thoroughly experimental filmmaking. An absolute perfectionist, to the point of obsession.

Rick Steiner - male, 40 or older. The production company's by-the-book producer. He's business-savvy, intelligent, less interested in the artistic qualities of film than the business aspects, and is under high pressure from investors and "higher-ups" to deliver a hit film for the company.

Dorian Bergman - male, middle-aged or older. Dorian is an experienced actor with his own troupe of skilled performers. He is a true thespian, a real charmer, well-versed in many languages (NOTE: multiple spoken languages not required for actors), spends a lot of time in Europe, has a lot of friends and connections, and is dashing, despite his age.

Dolores Bergman - female, middle-aged or older. A once-renowned actress, and Dorian's sister. Also a true thespian, worked extensively on stage, and is a bit more subdued than her wilder brother Dorian. She's classy, sophisticated, nice, and a bit elderly. She shares her brother's charms.

Jake Rogers - male, 30 - 40. The dashing, cocky "leading man" of the film in production. Jake is handsome, charming, and an ex-soap opera actor from L.A.,who quickly becomes displeased with the low-quality nature of Adrian Dreyfus' film, as the role does nothing for him as an actor, and he's not happy about that. (NOTE: actors interested in this role should be willing to perform stunts and fight scenes.)

Cynthia Louis - female, 20 - mid thirties. The gorgeous leading lady of Adrian's film. Because of her looks, Adrian forces her into a stereotypical role, which she isn't particularly pleased about. She's not happy about the rampant sexism in Adrian's film, but needs the job. She's down-to-Earth, a bit quiet, and is quite a different person than her on-screen counterpart would suggest.

Tim Steward - male, 30 - 40. Tim's field is lighting, and is at first a bit skeptical of Miles' grandiose plans. He is logistical, cool, and the voice of common sense.

Daniel - male, early 20s. Tech wizard and 3D animator. The visual effects supervisor of the company, whose soul has been crushed by the amount of CG-work that Adrian has ignorantly piled on to him and his team. He's self-deprecating, wry, and has a dry sense of humor.
