Budget lapel mic for interview

I'm filming an interview video, I have a Zoom H4n and Rode NTG 1, but I assume a lapel mic would be better for an interview so I'm looking to buy one. I usually work as a one man band so I need something I can operate myself.

In terms of budget, I'd really like something in the same budget as the Rode Smartlav(would this one be a decent option that would work with my h4n?). Obviously I'm not expecting to get industry level quality, but I atleast want to get better sound quality than this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyHpZmW4w1g#t=52

That's not my video, but I'm making a video for the company in the video, so want to give them better sound.

these guys(http://stillmotionblog.com/howtorecordaudioforaninterview/) use a shotgun mic boomed above the interviewee, so I'll just be purchasing a boom mic stand and will use my Ntg 1.

Just keep in mind that the interviewee will not be able to turn their head or else they will be off mic. And did you actually read the page? They recommend - and I agree - to use the shot gun AND a lav.

Oh, make sure that your shock-mount is compatible with the stand; you may need an adapter. And I would, perhaps, recommend a hypercardioid rather than a shotgun. Oh, do you have headphones? Who will be monitoring the audio? How are you capturing the voice of the interviewer?

If you don't want to buy a lav you can rent. The H4n would have to supply phantom power, but you could rent a hardwired or wireless lav. BTW, Oscar Tech Sound has some "affordable" lavs - http://oscarsoundtech.com/services.html

Will definitely keep that in mind cheers. I have the luxury of being able to get a few different takes for this interview. I can't seem to find a mic stand that works with my shock mount, but I've managed to DIY it with some rubber bands. Will look into getting some kind of adapter for it though.

In terms of monitoring I've got a hotshoe adaptor so I can mount my H4n on top of my dslr, so I can easily switch my eyes between the audio levels and the camera's screen. Though my camera will be on a tripod so I can focus more on the audio levels. They may not be professional grade, but I've got some Skull candy headphones that are quite good at blocking out noise. The location is a studio so any cars outside shouldn't be too noisy hopefully!

I think later on I'd definitely like to invest in some quality lav mic, rather than the cheap rode smartlav, which really doesn't impress me sound-wise. Fine for youtube videos but that's about it.

And after watching the video on the website, I'm shocked just how much of a massive leap in quality there is between the Rode NTG-3 and Ntg-2, the 3 sounds so much more professional, looks like it would be worth the investment later on as well.
