Lights, Camera...Coverage?

There’s already enough to worry about when you’re just buying basic insurance for yourself. Full or limited tort? How much coverage, and for what? What do you have to do to keep your premiums low?

Now imagine sitting down and thinking these things through for an entire movie.

Entertainment Insurance runs the gamut from basic student films to breathtaking stunts. They cover everything from films to documentaries to commercials. They offer worker’s compensation, general liability, and inland marine coverage. But only certain films qualify for specific types of coverage. How do you know what sort of insurance to purchase for your film?

But the best way to know what sort of coverage you’ll need is to sit down with your crew and brainstorm. What is the film about? Will your characters skydive from the clouds, or will they race away on jet skis in a thrilling chase scene? Be too detailed with your thinking. Write everything down.

And once you feel your list is ready, you can start looking at the different forms of entertainment insurance and decide which is best for you.

Pittsburghers may know that Taylor Lautner is in town to act in 2011’s upcoming film, Abduction. Lautner will be safe at home with his parents until the shooting finishes – and fans need not worry if an accident strikes, for his insurance will cover it.

DICE (Documentary, Industrial, Commercial, and Entertainment) and Annual Production insurances provide full coverage for a wide variety of productions. While what each agency provides varies, Kelly Insurance Group provides insurance for over 50 types of productions, from commercials to feature films – we even provide insurance for webisodes.

Kelly Insurance Group’s coverage includes marine and auto coverage, general and excess liability, and worker’s compensation. In addition, there are a variety of options for producers who want “cast extra expense,” which offers sick leave and bereavement for actors at 25-100% of the production’s gross cost.

Buyback options are also available for stunts, precision driving, and any animals in the film, and Kelly Insurance Group will quote multiple scenes online.

For more details on DICE/Annual Production insurance, visit our website at https://www.kellyinsurancegroup.com/ or contact your insurance agency for more details. Just remember that coverage should fit your production, not the other way around, for better peace of mind as you film your next blockbuster.

Cast extra expense is now available for production programs at Kelly Insurance Group. Coverage options include blanket coverage with sickness (no medicals required), blanket coverage without sickness, and family bereavement. Call our specialist Alexander Roberts for more information 412-325-1650.

I'm concerned that the firm name doesn't match the "Kelly Insurance Group" listed above and the phone numbers aren't even in the same area code.

As an internet consumer I'm suspicious... as a filmmaker, I'm cautious with my monies... as a security professional, those 2 things just raised red flags for me.

Could you please elucidate the discrepancies and provide some references please... My Prodco is currently in the development phase of a production and are shopping for insurance rates, so I'm hoping you're legit and reasonable.

Yes it is a little confusing! We are in an office with two insurance agencies, some of our agents work with both companies. Both agencies Holman and James and Kelly Insurance Group cover entertainment insurance I assure you nothing to be suspicious of. Here is the site to Kelly Insurance Group https://www.kellyinsurancegroup.com/entertainment_insurance/ it should go right to the entertainment and production insurance. I hope this is helpful and again I am sorry for the confusion.

All good, I try to be an educated consumer :)
