Screenwriters wanted for lives of MLK Jr, Sophie Scholl and Víctor Jara

Are you a screenwriter with a passion for history?

The Lives of the Dissidents
aims to tell the stories of non-violent dissidents from across the globe. Mandela, Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr are admired the world over, but there are many others like them known only in their own areas who also have great stories. We want to correct that (while not neglecting already famous lives) and give to our audience inspiration and a sense of hope in the world. We regard these stories as human treasures, and our project as the creation of an ark for them.

We are looking to find screenwriters to develop scripts for 10 minute animated films for lives of Martin Luther King Jr, Sophie Scholl, and Víctor Jara. They are to be dramatic (but non-fictive), told with heart and a sense of humour, and be written with the visual potential of animation in mind. A demonstration animation is here:

The project is in its infancy, and we are working on finding funding. What we could offer at this stage is $US 500 to develop a script, with an agreement of a further payment of around $1,500 when (/if) the animation is produced – which of course rests on us finding funding. We wish we could offer more.

If you have a passion for this kind of story, and the idea attracts you, please get in touch with:
