Video in High School

I joined this group to share ideas about making videos for myself and for high school students. I am keenly looking for ways to get the best images and sound for minimal amounts of money.
Students can always benefit from the experiences that others undertake. I am hoping to carry some of that insight to my students.

Welcome Grasshopper!

I'm one of the audio guys here.

Always remember:

"Sound is half of the experience"

"Old man, how is it that you hear these things?"

"Young man, how is it that you do not?"

I'm a tad confused about what exactly you are asking help for, but if you want good video quality for a cheap price look into the Flip cameras. They are affordable, and extremely easy to use. (I don't know whether you or your students will be working on it). As for sound, since it's just a classroom deal, I'd just stick with the onboard mic on the camera, for what you need it for, it's not worth it to invest in audio equipment.

But,
If you REALLY want better audio for some other reason, the Azden shotgun mics can be found on sites like Amazon, and are normally pretty inexpensive. But that brings up the issue of linking audio with video, since most of these cheaper cameras will not have an mic jack. Still, it's for educational purposes, the onboard mic on a Flip would be fine.

Another great camera to look into on the cheap are the Samsung SMX- F40 series, I still use mine from time to time, and you can get great HD quality for around 150.
