Community Property

Know Name Studios in recognition of change and industry renovation is doing something it's never done before and probably will never do again. We are giving a property we acquired the rights to away to anyone who will have it. "Diamond District" is the story of a town of politics and the players who play in it in all of their different Halls. A mixture combining the style and sex appeal of "Dynasty" and "Dallas" with the gritty realism of "The Wire" and "The Shield" Set in the ficticious Diamond City (DC), the show follows an ensemble cast of characters as diverse as the city is. From the roughest part of City Street to the starchest corridors of City Hall, "Diamond District" sees the city with one unblinking and unwavering eye.

Below is the treatment to the first commercial promo for the series which paints a portrait of one of the central and most polarizing characters. Following that are some character sketches of the leads in the series. Anyone interested in working with this piece may take what's been "given" thus far to produce, idea draft or pitch whatever they can to Know Name Studios to be in consideration to be one of ten producers to recieve copies of the pilot episode. One of those production teams will be selected to produce the pilot episode and possibly the entire series. Any interpretations of "Diamond District" or it's characters and or dialogue specified in this thread is fair game, as long as it only appears in the "Screening Room" of this site.

Commercial Promo for Diamond District The Series

Fade from black

Establishing wide angle interior shot. Office of Desira “Dez” Phelan. Phelan’s desk is large, impressive and packed with the trappings of a busy law partner working a late night session on an important case. A slow zoom in reveals Phelan finishing a call that has slightly perturbed her as she tries to match information from it to documents before her. We get to close up and can see she has a moment of pause as something seems to trouble her. She bites her lip reflectively before she lets out a sigh of defeat

Dez: Alright. You can get up now.

A very handsome and strappingly built young man in starched white shirt and loosened tie rises from beneath her desk presumably from between her legs.

Young Man: You done?

Dez: No but you are.

The young man reflexively wipes his mouth with the back of his hand and gathers himself and exits. Phelan waits until he leaves and goes into a drawer in her desk to retrieve a box of hand rolled Cuban cigars. She selects one and admires it as she reflects once again before speaking out loud to herself with slight contempt.

Dez: Interns!

She cleanly cuts of the tip of the cigar with a cigar cutter as she is planning to smoke it as opposed to other things.
