watch Battle Hero Absolute (Japanese Tokusatsu Inspired Series)

Firstly, if you don't know what Japanese Tokusatsu is, it's basically the genre where Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers originated from - a bunch of people in spandex. Battle Hero Absolute is more or less inspired by Kamen Rider where, unlike Power Rangers, the hero is usually a single man. The stories are more adult oriented and the characters find themselves having struggles within their own lives as opposed to the enemies causing the problems.

Battle Hero Absolute follows Jay who encounters an alien species called the Clarion, an entity that possesses human souls in their plan to rule the Earth and its resources. Jay, holding the only Earth weapon capable of identifying and fighting the silent menace is called upon to be the protector of the human race as the Masked Hero.

The series is written by Fernando Jay Huerto (lead actor, director, editor) and Fernando Ramos (currently resides in Japan as an English teacher). I myself am the cameraman and will sometimes be on screen or edit a few sequences here and there.

We are currently 9 episodes in and have it planned to be about 15 episodes. And throughout the series we have worked with the likes of Mega64, Bueno of Gun Caliber, Keith Hayward of Henshin Justice Unlimtied, Lester Nguyen from Rising Tiger Inc., and Power Rangers actress Catherine Sutherland who has provided her voice for one of our episodes.

I know it's a lot to watch all at once but I do hope you guys have the time to check out our series. If you'd like a few episodes to start with, I'd recommend episodes 1, 5, and 6 as those episodes can explain the series without spoiling anything else. Please feel free to comment and critique (any and all is really appreciated and accepted).

I was an absolute fanatic of the power rangers and before that all the Japanese cartoons from the late 80's, so as you would have guessed I was super excited to read your description of the project.

Unfortunately within one minute of watching the first episode I stopped the video.
Reason why? Simple in my opinion, the story rushed into the action too quickly and without explaining anything. Yes I knew the story from your info, but I want to see it not read about it from a third party.

Within 35 seconds of the start, the hero has the "watch" given to him by some random person and we know nothing of its origin and why he was chosen...

Yes I know that this information may come up in the future episodes but you have got to grab the audience from the getgo and you didn't with me. Good luck with the project!

Sorry for the late post.

I probably should have mentioned that Battle Hero Absolute is somewhat of an offshoot of another series of ours known as Test Fight 5 (2009). The Test Fight series is basically a parody of test fights where people in the indy action scene just made fight scenes with no story and to show people what they could do. Test Fight 5 is an accumulation of all the different action genre's balled up into one but with an actual story behind it. How it came about is that we made the first Test Fight, then another filmmaker, Joe from New Jersey (us being from San Diego, CA) made his own version. We then decided it would be fun to have a collaboration where Jay is pissed off that Joe took his idea and to fight to take reign of who should be making Test Fights. Joe flew himself down to San Diego and then we just went from there.

The first 35 seconds of Battle Hero is a recap of what happened in Test Fight 5 to lead up into the series. The funny part is that the "Battle Hero" portion of Test Fight was meant to be a one off but we liked it so much that the series was born.

To go even further, Test Fight 5 is a continuation of Test Fight 3 (2006)

I know it's a lot to consume, but we made these with the intention of connecting multiple series together. For the new viewer, bad idea, but for those that have kept up with our work, it's more of a nice treat to them. I could go into more where some of the other characters came from but that would take another essays worth ahah. Past episode 1 (and parts of ep3) , we try to keep everything self contained within the series.

I hope at least one of you guys can watch our stuff.

We finally released episode 10 of Battle Hero Absolute!

Battle Hero Absolute: Episode 10 - Silver Lining

After Jan's erasure from existence, Jay goes into a depression, leaving Battle Hero 2 to fight the Clarions herself. While Jay questions his continuation to fight, Sunny tries to find out why he is acting so strange.

I think it is a job well done, I like that it starts fast with the backstory and then straight into the first episode. The action is choreographed well and I also think the SFX worked well. I know how hard it is to try to produce a story/show like this and I think on a scale of 1-10, based of the first episode, i'd say 6.5.

All in All, Great job! I'm going to show this to my friend, who is doing post on a thriller project I was in that isn't nearly as good as your episodes here. Thanks for sharing them!

Thanks for checking us out, GPS! And I also hope you get around to watching a few of the others episodes as well.

Episode 10 has probably gotten the most positive response since we started doing the series. Some have said that it's a good alternative to what's going in Power Rangers/Super Sentai/Kamen Rider. We would have never thought that people would actually put our series in the same platform as the ones that inspired us. I mean, people are actually breaking down our characters in ways that we never thought of.

Even if we released our episodes a few months at a time, it's good to know that it's still has a strong enough following for us to keep moving forward.

It's been 3 months since our last release, but here's the latest episode of Battle Hero Absolute!

Fernando comes back to San Diego and visits Jay, who is close to recovering from his tragic loss. Meanwhile, questions come into play about Masked Hero #2 and her secret identity.

After a year of waiting, we finally have released episode 12 of Battle Hero Absolute

The Clarion's second in command reveals herself and Jay's sixth sense starts to give him pain as the silent alien army grows stronger.
