How do i film a story?

So i have been making videos for about 2-3 years now, im not at the professional level, this bothers me.

So my challenge is i can't seem to wrap my head around how to shoot a continuous story, in fact i avoid doing this on shoots because i cant seem to figure out how to do it properly (perfectly) lol

I know story is what will take all of my videos from amateur to a higher level.

So what is the barebones of a story and how do you shoot it?

Also im probably going to ask alot of questions...

Also if youd like please check out my work and let me know what you think...

I know my advice is "old school" but then, I'm old school: there is no
better way to figure it out then to do it. Your first effort won't be perfect,
it might even be terrible. So (in my old school method) you do another
one. And another one and another one until you do it properly.
So what is the barebones of a story and how do you shoot it?
The bare bones of a story is a beginning, a middle and an end. You set
something up: a thug and an alligator walk into a bar. Then something
happens: the guy asks the bartender "Do you serve lawyers here?", the
bartender says, "Of course we do." Then you end it: the lawyer says, "I'll
have a beer and a lawyer for my alligator."

That method can be used for anything. Watch a dozen "Twilight Zone"
episodes; they told terrific stories in a short time. The set up: a nearsighted
man wishes he was left alone so he could read in silence. Then something
happens: There is an apocalyptic event and all people but him are destroyed.
He makes his way to one of the few buildings that survived; the library. Then
the ending: as he makes his way through the rubble he drops and steps his
only pair of glasses. A beginning, a middle and an end.

HOW you tell that story is what makes a filmmaker. How you become a good
storyteller as a filmmaker takes time and practice. Start shooting!
