ME66 vs. NTG1/2

I'm looking into some microphones and was wondering which one I could get the best deal off of. The two I'm looking at are the ME66 and the NTG1 or 2. I'm going to send the input to my t3i through an XLR cable to an (XLR to 1/8" adapter).

Which microphone would be the best deal?
Which one do you think is better?

Thanks for any input

Always keep in mind...

Opinions are like assholes - everybody has one, and they all stink.

I would disagree with Sage on both counts. The ME-66 is a nice mic. It's a little brittle sounding to my ears, but some people absolutely love them, it's built like a frigging tank, and it was a mainstay of the low/no/mini/micro budget indie film scene for many years. The NTG-2 (and AT-897) have lower output levels than the ME66 and the NTG-1 - and most other mics - so it's not that great a deal. The NTG-2 (and AT-897) are nice options if you don't have phantom power in your audio recorder or your camera.

So your options are the NTG-2, AT897 and ME-66. As far as I'm concerned it's a coin toss that will be decided by your budget and your own ears.
