Bought camera and found out it has no audio jack, what should i do?

Hello i was wondering if anyone here could help me

A few days ago i bought a Canon eos 1200d (also known as the rebel t5) because it was an affordable way of recording in 1080p however as i didn't properly research the camera i did not know (untill today) that there was no audio jack (i also thought that the jack for the remote was 3.5mm).
As i don't want to return the camera i now have two options, one of which i am unsure of:

1.Buy a separate mic and sync up the audio and video in post (can be tedious)

or

2.Buy an external mic e.g:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/RØDE-Vi...s=external+mic

Buy a usb-3.5mm e.g
http://www.amazon.co.uk/3-5mm-Microp...for+microphone
or
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Andoer®...for+microphone

and connect it to my camera , however i am unsure as to whether this will work.

I would appreciate some advice on my current situation, perhaps from someone that has been in a similar predicament.

I'm against connecting to camera for anything other than a scratch track.

Two System Sound is almost always a better quality.

However, if you really need to record it all to camera, you could get a Zoom or Tascam recorder, connect the mic to that and then use a cable to connect the recorder to the camera.

This will give you the sound on both the recorder and the camera (use camera for scratch, recorder for iso's)

Nope.... but I would recommend the stuff on Alcove Audio's audio buying guide

Under Audio Recorders, I bought the first one, the DR-100mkII, very nice budget recorder.
