Short film "The Spectator" invites you to become more than just a viewer

Greek film and theater director Thodoris Vournas has launched a crowdfunding campaign for his sixth short film, titled as The Spectator.

The film introduces Thanos (played by Orestis Tziovas), a man who has detached himself from every feeling and observes his life as if it was a film; he only collects the shots he needs to edit together in order to compose the final cut of his everyday life. The screenplay, written by Giannis G. Georgiou, is an adaptation of the monologue “Making Movies” by the prominent Greek playwright-director-actor George Iliopoulos.

The production team invites the audience to contribute to the campaign and help bring the film to life, consequently supporting Greek independent cinema in a time when funding is extremely hard to find, given the situation in the country. Earlier last year, ERT (the national broadcaster that was a major film subsidizer for years and was shut down in 2013) reopened, though its short film funding program never relaunched.

The backers will have the chance to experience the making of the film as insiders through frequent updates about the film’s progress at every stage of the production. Among others and depending on the contribution amount, they will get a limited-edition production journal in booklet form, a digital copy of the film before its premiere, and even a Co-producer or Producer credit.

The Spectator is scheduled to begin shooting in May and be completed early this summer. The crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo will be active until May 2. For more information and to become a part of the production, visit the film’s Indiegogo page: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/theatis-a-short-film-by-thodoris-vournas

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer in bringing this film to life, either by contributing to or by sharing our campaign!

PS. ...and I honestly hope to find the time to explore this forum in depth when all this is over! :)
