I have never had interested in deciding if there should be an O.S. when writing a spec, but there is a particular scene where I thought using it would be effective. Basically a hitman type of villain is stalking his next victim through the POV of binoculars, and I was wondering, if I should write "THROUGH BINCOCULARS" as a line on it's own, and then tell of what the hitman sees through that POV the whole time.
I don't reveal his face, and when he speaks on his radio to other hitmen, it would be O.S. since you only hear him speak while seeing his POV only for quite a bit of the scene, to keep him more mysterious.
But should I do this if it's a spec script, or should I just decsribe him as there, and give a whole physical description, even though it may be better if the POV doesn't show him at all?
