Wooden clapperboard

I have a old clapperboard around .

It is made out of wood so once you write something you can't erase it .

What do you guys do in such situation ?

Or its just how cheap slates work .

So you can only ever use it once????

Ok, thanks for paying attention during rehearsals. Oh, did I forget to mention, our clapper board is a little odd, so we're going to have to do this entire movie in one take. That's right, there will be no take 2. If you screw it up, we will beat you to death with our single use clapper board. Any questions? Good, and action!

Tape would have been my solution (as you don't want to change the color/BW references that are on it)... otherwise, you can get chalkboard paint that works like a champ (I sprayed my wall behind my workbench with it -- great for sketching ideas out for builds).

Maybe you should write on it with something that's erasable? Chalk, charcoal or grease pencil maybe? I'm just guessing that's what it was meant to be used with.
