All of the composers on this forum will know Sibelius. To filmmakers who perhaps aren't familiar with it, Sibelius is the leading software for composition and music notation, and is undeniably the best product of its kind.
It is currently owned by Avid, who have announced that they are cutting the UK development team that is in charge of Sibelius. They are doing this to save costs, and will not release any more versions of Sibelius.
However, they are also refusing to sell the software back to the founders, presumably because of the income they will continue to receive from the current version of the software.
This is an incredibly important issue for composers, teachers, and musicians of almost any kind.
I'm not entirely sure of what is being done to find a solution, although I am aware of a petition that will be presented to Avid and to the house of commons. You can find it here:
