24fps shown at 60fps...what?

This has been killing me, so any input regarding this conversion will be highly appreciated.

If Motion Pictures are recorded at 24fps, then how can they be reproduced at 60fps on the latest televisions? I've read several articles explaining this by saying that the frames are interlaced, so you see 60 refreshes, but only 30 frames. well, where do these 6 other frames come from without ruining the flow of any given scene by speeding it up?

then there's progressive scan which shows you 60 full frames. How? And if it's true, how come it doesn't produce a flicker effect?

again, thank you in advance to anyone with an input regarding this.

60fields, not frames... each frame is made up of two interlaced fields (upper and lower) so 60 fields/second is 30 frames/second.. though technically it's 29.97 frames per second, per the NTSC standard.. As for how 24p footage fits within that wonky framerate, Zen pointed you in the right direction. ;)
