Post some of the best indie shorts/films you've seen

Seriously, some videos on youtube aren't even just encouraging or inspiring! They're so good they make you depressed!

This is the thread for those shorts that inspire you (or depress you in the good way!)

Very clean! And very cinematic. Definitely a step above the other yt shorts that aim to be over 15 mins.

I notice a lot of foreign countries kick things up a notch. I think the few videos I see that actually are shorts done in other countries that look like 5 min Hollywood productions.

Post great examples of GREAT indie shorts or features that inspire you (or crap on your day) that are a step above the rest.

The Maestro was incredible. What a great short film. I definitely want to do something, anything, soon, of this quality... Inspiring indeed. Many levels to this one, no dialogue, great visuals, audio lead, and on and on. Thanks Zensteve!!

Along with any number of shorts made by I.T.ers that ought to be mentioned, this is one is one of the most exceptional that I've seen. But, if you listen to the making of video, it sounds like it had the advantage of being worked on by many professionals, which is not something many I.T.ers' films have the luxury of enjoying.

Ghosts of Old Highways

I like

Solitude

mostly for just some gorgeous visuals

And of course many of us were inspired by Depart From Me, but unfortunately it doesn't look like you can watch it now, unless you have the password.

The Un-Gone inspires me because it's really good, and it shows me that shorts can be a pretty great medium(?) themselves.

The White Boned Demon seems exceptionally creative, amusing, and skillfully made to me.

Sandwich.

Amy. Gorgeous black & white film (literally) short. Kinda makes me want to work with film.

Eye of the Storm.

George Lucas Strikes Back because it's so funny, true, and shows what you can do comedically with a short for not a lot of money.

Jesus Will Survive. Not much technically. But I love it, and it's very effective with all of its 1:04 run time. Gets me everytime.

Jesus Christ: Violent Communion. WARNING: IDEOLOGICALLY SENSITIVE MATERIAL. Basically, do not watch this if you are offendable. But I love it. It's so funny. And it's inspiring because they did it, I'm sure, with not much of a budget, and it's still great. It has its shortcomings, sure, but it also has a lot of great character!

I saw this at a film festival about 3 years ago. It was nominated for an Oscar:

Also, the winner of last year's Tropfest (I know half the people who worked on this!)
